Scaffidi’s Restaurant and Tavern originally opened under the name of “Scaffidi’s Pasta” in October of 2009. Dawn and Nino Scaffidi, both natives of the city of Steubenville, followed their dream of owning their own business in the form of providing an an atmosphere of “Grandma’s House on Sunday” with a small home-like setting to serve true, authentic, and homemade Italian food. The original location was located at 2198 Sunset Boulevard in Steubenville, Ohio, near the Hollywood City Center in the heart of Steubenville.
The restaurant opened with the mission to provide meals that were homemade that very day, including pasta, sauces, soups, and other meals that you would find in every Italian home.
In the first year of business, it became apparent to Dawn and Nino that their business had quickly outgrown their original location that sat 25 people and did carry-out business. In 2011, they began to search for a new location in order to expand their establishment to meet the demand in which they were under.
By August 2011, Scaffidi’s Pasta re-opened in their new and current location in the Hollywood City Center. The business had occupied a former restaurant location that accommodated 300 people (including their dining room area, their private banquet hall area, bar, and tavern areas). Although the business had multiplied its capacity over ten times, it still held true to the fact that we provide true, authentic, and homemade Italian meals made from scratch each and every day.
At the time of re-opening in its current location, “Scaffidi’s Pasta”renamed itself to be the current business of “Scaffidi’s Restaurant and Tavern” to indicate the addition of its bar and tavern areas that were new and unique to the business.
Since then, Scaffidi’s Restaurant and Tavern has expanded its menu to include so much more than your traditional Italian dishes, such as handmade-to-order burgers with an Italian flare, calzones, and so much more.
In the Fall of 2015, Scaffidi’s Restaurant and Tavern was honored as the restaurant with “The Best Entree in Jefferson County” at the Jefferson County United Way’s annual event, “Taste of the County.” The establishment’s signature pink sauce took the award. The following year, Scaffidi’s Restaurant and Tavern had earned the achievement of a “Certificate of Excellence” as awarded by TripAdvisor. The achievement signifies establishments in the hospitality industry (hotels, restaurants, and attractions) that have established records of providing a good product and great customer service through customer-submitted reviews. At that point as well, Scaffidi’s Restaurant and Tavern had the ability to say that it has been the number one ranked restaurant in the City of Steubenville for eighteen months straight.
Scaffidi’s Restaurant and Tavern is happy and proud to be a Steubenville business.
